Abba,
Connection, relationship, fellowship, community. These are deeply ingrained upon the heart of every man, every woman, every child. And it is no wonder. You Yourself, God of the universe, Creator of all, exist in perpetual and permanent community. Trinity. More than a doctrine. More than a truth to be studied, quoted, and learned. It is what you call us to. You created us FOR community because it reflects Your nature and being. We were created for community with one another, in the body of Christ, the Church. And this community is far richer and deeper than shared interests over our favorite sports teams, grandchildren, careers, weather, vacation spots, etc. This community is intended for shared intimacy to a depth and level that is uncommon and unnatural for us as sinful, fallen beings. It is intended for knowing of our deepest selves, for an openness, vulnerability, honestly, and acceptance to a depth that we truly understand, know, and see one another for who we are, faults and all. This level of intimacy and openness is frightening to us. And yet it is alluring. Deeply we ache for someone to know us deeply and still love and accept us. Deeply we ache for the kind of friendship and community that we do not have to hide, do not have to pretend, do not have to conceal. And this is the type of relationship you have created us for. It is the kind of relationship YOU have with Yourself and that You have with us. And it is the type of relationship you intend for us, as Your body, to experience with each other. Oh that you would grant to us this level of Koinonia; this level of fellowship and care for one another. We long to experience all that You created us for. We long to experience the unity of relationship that YOU are and intend for us. Work among us, Father, that we may indeed see the reality of this in us as it is in you.
We love you, Abba.
Amen.
