Sinners Don't Like Boundaries

“Sinners don’t like boundaries…Sinners tend to want to author their own moral codes.  So you can’t even pray this prayer, “Lead us not into temptation,” unless grace has visited you.  Only powerful, rescuing grace can take you from “Let me do what I want to do” to “Guard me against the temptation to do what you know is best for me not to do.”  Paul Tripp

Abba,

What truth there is to these words.  This is why no program, no restrictive measures, no accountability will truly amount to much unless there is a heart that surrenders and desires to surrender the desires of the flesh and rest in Your perfect will for our lives.  Only when grace has visited us,  can we pray this prayer with sincerity and truth.  Oh God, Oh Savior, our creator and maker…capture our hearts with your love so deeply that when the enticing desires of our flesh come knocking, we desire and trust that love more than we trust the desires of our flesh to satisfy our hearts.  Visit us with your grace and grant to us the faith and desire to pray these words…. Lead us not into temptation…we are wholly dependent on your grace for a heart that cries these words to you.

We love you Abba,

Amen.

Matthew 6:13a
13     And lead us not into temptation,
 The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Mt 6:13). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.

Psalm 93
The Lord Reigns
93 The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
        Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
    2     Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
    3     The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
    4     Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty!
    5     Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O Lord, forevermore.

 The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Ps 93:1–5). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles
